The echoing waves in each passing fish are achieved by compressing multiple sheets of slip covered clay together, while the fish themselves are created by slicing across the grain of what was previously laminated.  The process is unique and while designs within a collection may be similar, no two are exactly the same.  Because the clay has passed through the pressure of the slab roller many times, it is surprisingly durable for how lightweight it feels in the hand.   Pair with other large serving bowls or coordinating dipping dishes for a cohesive look.
